Government of Punjab, Department of School Education issued a notification on May 13, 2024, regarding the implementation of a zero period for awareness about dengue and smog in all government/private schools of Punjab. The details are as follows:
Regarding the implementation of a zero period in all government/private schools of Punjab concerning awareness about dengue and smog:
To:
- Director General, Quaid E Azam Academy for Educational Development (QAED), Lahore
- Managing Director, Punjab Education Foundation (PEF), Lahore
- Chief Executive Officer, Punjab Education Initiatives Management Authority (PEIMA), Lahore
- Chief Executive Officer, Punjab Danish Schools and Centers of Excellence Authority, Lahore
- All Chief Executive Officers (CEOs), Punjab
Inclusions of the directives:
A committee meeting for all concerned diseases such as dengue and disaster management was convened under the chairmanship of Minister, Secretaries,
and Departments of School Education and Primary and Secondary Healthcare Departments of Punjab on May 13, 2024.
It was emphasized to increase awareness about dengue and smog in both government and private schools among students.
The authority has also emphasized that for all government/private schools, “zero period” for awareness about dengue and smog should be ensured on a daily basis with the following directives:
- Display of banners, posters, and charts related to dengue/smog awareness
- 100% coverage of all dengue breeding sites
- Cleanliness (courtyards, bathrooms, water tanks, rooftops, etc.)
Therefore, I have been instructed to request that necessary directives regarding dengue prevention and overall school management (government/private) be provided to all principals and heads of colleges so that they can be implemented effectively.
It is to be understood as a top priority.
