Islamabad: The government is preparing to impose an additional burden of 310 billion rupees on electricity consumers.
The CPPA has submitted a request for the determination of electricity purchase prices for the next fiscal year. There is a possibility of an increase of 5 rupees per unit in the basic electricity rates. NEPRA will review CPPA’s request on May 23.
CPPA has presented seven proposals for the purchase price of electricity. A tentative purchase price ranging from 25.03 to 27.11 rupees per unit has been set. After approval, the burden of electricity purchase price will reach up to 58.3 trillion rupees.
