Quetta: Militants attacked a residential quarter inhabited by prayer-goers in Gwadar and killed 7 individuals through firing. All the deceased were from Punjab.
According to the police, unidentified militants attacked a residential quarter near the fish harbor in the Srbndr area and killed 7 individuals who were asleep in the quarter through firing. One person has been reported injured in the incident.
Upon receiving the information, the bodies and the injured were shifted to Gwadar hospital. According to initial reports,
the deceased and injured individuals belonged to Khanewal district of Punjab, who used to work at a barber’s shop in Srbndr. The incident of firing occurred around 3 a.m. near Srbndr.
After the incident, security forces have cordoned off Srbndr and started a search operation to apprehend the unidentified suspects.
According to the police, the identities of the deceased individuals planning to be killed are reported as Sajid, Asad Ansar, Shaan, Makrabb, Adnan, and Haseeb, while the injured person’s name is Arsalan.
Expressing his concern, the Interior Minister of Balochistan, Sarfraz Bugti, condemned the incident in Gwadar, stating that the killing of innocent laborers is an open act of terrorism.
He assured that the terrorists and their facilitators will be pursued, and any necessary force against them will be utilized, while ensuring the safety of the public.
He vowed that every drop of Pakistani blood will be accounted for.
On the other hand, the Provincial Minister for Home, Meer Zia Lango, has demanded a report while condemning the incident in Gwadar.
He stated that strict action will be taken against terrorists. The cowardly act of killing innocent laborers is unacceptable. All aspects of the incident are being investigated thoroughly.
According to the spokesperson of the Balochistan government, efforts are being made to contact the families of the deceased individuals.
