Notification Absence from Duty Without Sanctioning Leave Preparatory to Retirement (LPR)

The Punjab Government, School Education Department, issued a notification on 08-05-2024 regarding unauthorized absence from duty without prior approval, including unauthorized leaves of other kinds. The details are as follows:

Unauthorized absence from duty without prior approval:

I have been instructed to refer to the above subject matter, and it has been directed to convey that it has come to the notice of the competent authority,

that the employees of the School Education Department apply for Leave Preparatory to Retirement (L.P.R) under rule 17 (7) of the Punjab Civil Servants (Appointment and Conditions of Service) Rules, 198.

They intentionally avail themselves of 198 casual leaves and discontinue their duty/school attendance, which constitutes willful absence from duty.

The same is defined in the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability (PEEDA) Act, 2006, as tantamount to misconduct and inefficiency.

Therefore, I have been directed by the competent authority/secretary to convey that the School Education Department desires that the employees who apply for leave preparatory to retirement shall not vacate the appropriate station/current place of posting without the approval of the competent authority.

The above directives shall be implemented in their true spirit.

Submitting the letter:

  1. To Secretary, School Education Department, Punjab, Lahore.
  2. To Special Secretary, School Education Department, Punjab, Lahore.
  3. To Additional Secretary (Schools), Department of Education, Punjab, Lahore.
