The Pakistan Air Force, also known as PAF, is the air warfare branch of Pakistan’s armed forces, primarily tasked with defending Pakistan’s airspace,
providing aerial support to the Pakistani Army and Navy when needed, and facilitating strategic airlift capabilities.
According to the International Institute for Strategic Studies, PAF currently has 70,000 active-duty personnel and operates at least 594 aircraft in Pakistan.
Its fundamental charge and mission are to provide “Pakistan’s safest and most cost-effective air defense services.”
Since its inception in 1947, PAF has been involved in various military operations and provides air assistance to Pakistani military operations and relief efforts.
