Requirements
Requirements depend on the employer and position. Courier drivers normally need a valid New Zealand driver’s licence, good driving skills and the ability to provide reliable customer service.
Some contractor jobs may require applicants to operate their own business or vehicle. A recent New Zealand Couriers contractor listing also asks for a clean driver’s licence and security check.
Courier work can be physically active, so applicants should be comfortable handling parcels, driving for long periods and meeting delivery schedules.
Courier Pay Rate
There is no single hourly rate for all courier jobs.
For example, a recent NZ Post Delivery Agent vacancy advertised NZD $27.86 per hour. Some New Zealand Couriers positions are contractor opportunities instead of hourly-paid jobs. Recent contractor advertisements have estimated annual earnings of around NZD $100,000+, but these figures are not guaranteed hourly wages and business costs may apply.
Age Limit and Gender
The current vacancies reviewed do not state a general 18 to 45 years age limit for all courier jobs.
Courier vacancies are also not generally restricted to one gender. Suitable candidates should apply if they meet the licence, work-right and individual job requirements.
