How UAE Annual Leave Salary Is Calculated
UAE private-sector employees are generally entitled to annual leave with full wage. Employees who have completed one year of service are entitled to at least 30 days of annual leave for each year of service.
Where service is more than six months but less than one year, annual leave entitlement is two days for each month of service.
(Basic Salary + Regular Monthly Allowances) ÷ 30 × Leave Days
Basic Salary ÷ 30 × Eligible Unused Leave Days
The calculator therefore separates leave taken while employment continues from cash compensation for accrued unused leave when employment ends.
Example 1: Annual Leave During Employment
Suppose an employee has a monthly basic salary of AED 5,000 and regular monthly allowances of AED 2,000.
Total monthly wage entered = AED 7,000.
For 30 days of annual leave:
AED 7,000 ÷ 30 × 30 = AED 7,000.
Example 2: Unused Leave at End of Employment
If the same employee leaves employment with 10 eligible unused annual leave days, this calculator uses the basic salary for the cash compensation estimate:
AED 5,000 ÷ 30 × 10 = approximately AED 1,666.67.
