How the Salary Calculation Works

This calculator separates the basic salary from the allowances entered by the user. It then adds the monthly amounts together to provide a simple estimate of the total monthly salary.

Total Monthly Salary = Basic Salary + Housing Allowance + Transport Allowance + Other Allowances
Estimated Annual Salary = Total Monthly Salary × 12

The daily equivalent shown by this tool divides the estimated total monthly salary by 30. The hourly equivalent further divides that figure by 8. The weekly equivalent is calculated by dividing the estimated annual salary by 52.

These daily, hourly and weekly figures are provided only as simple comparison estimates. They are not intended to calculate statutory overtime, leave pay, gratuity or another legal employment entitlement.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the UAE Salary Calculator?

The UAE Salary Calculator is a free estimation tool that adds the basic salary and monthly allowances entered by the user and provides estimated monthly and annual salary figures.

What is basic salary in the UAE?

Basic salary or basic wage generally refers to the wage stated in the employment contract without the additional allowances and benefits that may form part of the employee’s overall wage package.

What does this calculator include in total monthly salary?

For this calculator, total monthly salary is the sum of the basic salary, housing allowance, transport allowance and other recurring monthly allowances entered by the user.

How is annual salary calculated?

The calculator multiplies the estimated total monthly salary by 12. For example, AED 7,500 per month produces an estimated annual salary of AED 90,000.

Are allowances the same as basic salary?

No. Basic salary and allowances should be treated separately. Your employment contract should be checked to understand the components of your actual salary package.

Does this calculator calculate UAE overtime?

No. The hourly figure shown by this calculator is only a simple salary equivalent. It is not an overtime entitlement calculation. UAE overtime has separate rules, so a dedicated UAE Overtime Calculator should be used for that purpose.

Can I use this calculator to calculate gratuity?

No. UAE end-of-service gratuity has its own eligibility and calculation rules. A dedicated UAE Gratuity Calculator should be used instead.

How are private-sector salaries paid in the UAE?

Employers covered by the UAE Wage Protection System are required to pay wages in accordance with the applicable WPS requirements. Employees should check their employment contract and official UAE guidance for the rules that apply to their situation.

Can a UAE salary be paid in another currency?

UAE Government guidance states that payment can be made in UAE Dirhams or another currency when this has been agreed between the parties in the employment contract.

Is the result legally binding?

No. All results produced by this calculator are estimates. Actual salary and employment entitlements depend on the employment contract, applicable laws, regulations and individual circumstances.
