The Chief Minister of Punjab has approved the installation of 1 kW solar systems for up to 50,000 households in Punjab under the Roshan Gharana Program.
According to reports, initially, this solar system scheme will cater to those consumers who utilize up to 100 units monthly. The Punjab government will provide the following items:
Roshan Gharana Program 1 KV Solar System
As per the above scheme, the beneficiaries will get the following items for 1 KV solar system:
- 2 No solar plates (panels)
- 1 No Lithium Battery
- 1 No Invertor
- Set of wires
The approval of the Chief Minister of Punjab aims primarily at providing relief in electricity bills along with illumination.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif has instructed to immediately start the pilot project and install modern technology-based solar systems.
The Chief Minister has ordered the installation of 1 kW solar systems in various households and assessed the benefits.
During a special meeting chaired by the Chief Minister, a briefing was given on the technical aspects of the solar system, ensuring protection for consumers utilizing up to 100 units of electricity.
Which items will function with a 1 kW solar system and backup time?
The Punjab government will provide two solar panels, a battery, an inverter, and cables in a 1 kW system. A 1 kW solar system will power fans, lights, small appliances, etc.
Consumers will receive backup through lithium-ion batteries for up to 16 hours. The Chief Minister emphasized the use of high-quality solar plates, inverters, batteries, and other equipment during the meeting.
The Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, stated that the scope of the solar system for domestic consumers will be gradually expanded.
The objective of the Roshan Gharana Program is to provide relief to low-income individuals from expensive electricity.
Prior to this, the Education Minister of Punjab initiated trials of electric bikes for teachers at affordable rates in the province.
The Punjab government will soon commence the aforementioned schemes in the province in a suitable manner.
